Sweden: Postnord tests out AI to predict and prevent delays
NyTeknik, 06 Dec 2017, online:-
Swedish logistics company Postnord has commenced testing of the artificial intelligence bot Egil, which will help the company to handle transport and logistics data as well as prevent delays before they even take place. Kenneth Verlage, head of business development e-commerce and logistics at Postnord, states that this type of machine learning allows for new opportunities to add more value, where it has increased the amount of predicted delays to about 50% from 12% with the old system. The bot is set to become operational in H1 2018 and be used by the Postnord control tower in Örebro, which is responsible for monitoring all transports in Sweden. Verlage further states that the goal is to predict 90% of all potential delays by 2019 or 2019, which will require all Postnord trucks to be fitted with GPS trackers first.
