Latvia/Lithuania: Dispute over Mazeikiai-Renge railway to be taken to EC
The Baltic Course, 19 Sep 2017, online:-
Latvia would send a diplomatic note to Lithuania on the dispute over the dismantled railway line from Mazeikiai to Renge, Dienas Bizness reported. Also, Latvia was drawing up a letter to the European Commission (EC) about the question. Earlier, Lithuania offered the Polish oil company, PKN Orlen, favourable rail tariffs. In turn, PKN Orlen would have to stop demanding that Lithuania rebuild the Mazeikiai-Renge railway line. Edgars Tavars, parliamentary secretary at Latvia's Ministry of Transport, said the decision was clear evidence that the Lithuanian government wanted to restrict the free passage of goods to Latvian ports.
