Trade between China and Slovakia is currently worth around USD 7bn (EUR 5.86bn), with officials from both countries voicing their interests of boosting ties in transport, robotics and energy in the future. The two states began cooperating in the transport of cargo via railways, with the first freight train arriving from China on 13 November 2017. In addition, Slovakia requested that certificates are issued more faster by Chinese authorities for the exports of locally made food items. Slovakia also showed interest in the energy sector, with the Chinese expressing their interests in the Nuclear and Decommissioning Company (JAVYS) and the Nuclear Energy Research Institute (VUJE). Lastly, representatives of up to 30 robotics companies from China are to arrive to Slovakia to assess the local market for future investments.
