The freight subsidiary of German rail company Deutsche Bahn, DB Cargo, is to order 100 locomotives from Siemens, according to sources close to the matter. The value of the locomotives will be EUR 370mn (USD 421.88mn). This is part of a restructuring programme which aims to increase capacity. In addition it is to buy 4,000 goods waggons. Clients have been threatening to go to competitors because DB Cargo had become unreliable. The company has also reduced its plans to cut 2,000 jobs; there are now to be 500 job cuts.
