Polish wide-gauge train operator PKP LHS is planning to get involved in developing a south-western route along the New Silk Route that will by-pass Russia. Rail operators from four other countries: Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Iran and Georgia are also signatories of the agreement. According to the Ukrainian railways, the line could have a potential of up to 72mn t per year.
