Sweden: Bauhaus reports increased e-commerce sales of larger products
Dagens Industri, 03 Nov 2017, online:-
Figures from Swedish hardware store Bauhaus show that e-commerce sales of construction materials have increased by 23% and 20% in Q1 and Q2 of 2017, respectively. Johan Saxne, head of marketing at Bauhaus, states that it is primarily sales of doors, windows and swimming pools that have facilitated the sales increase, compared to sales of smaller materials such as screws. He further says that garden furniture is the most popular items at Bauhaus with 60% of total sales taking place online, and that he projects that the segment will only continue to grow in the future. Bauhaus utilises the services of Swedish third-party logistics provider Postnord TPL, which is highly suitable for e-commerce. Saxne comments that it was a simple choice to partner with Postnord due to the company's central storage being in Norrköping. Anna Miller, head of logistics at Postnord TPL, comments that thanks to the company's efficient and smart solutions for logistics, the company is able to handle both larger and smaller deliveries.
