Sweden: Proposals of Fossil Free Sweden to reduce marine emissions
Transport och Logistik, 01 Nov 2017, online:-
Svante Axelsson from Fossil Free Sweden initiative has called for a new marine transport policy to reduce emissions. Another goal is avoid increased competition with other means of transport but to expand collaboration efforts instead. Four proposals have been presented. These include establishing environmental compensation support per tone-kilometre and a transhipment support. Differentiation of waterway fees is proposed to be simplified, while vessels that pass many ports should receive larger discounts on port fees. The proposals have been developed together with the Swedish Maritime Administration (Sjöfartsverket) and the Swedish Shipowners' Association (Svensk Sjöfart).
