Norway: Hurtigruten contemplates opening up its own port terminals
E24 Næringsliv - Norway, 01 Jul 2017, online:-
Norwegian shipping services company Hurtigruten has announced that it is currently considering to construct its own port terminals. The company argues that while international cruise shipping companies have received discounts to dock at ports, Hurtigruten has been forced to pay double fees every day throughout the year. Stein Lillebo, project manager at Hurtigruten, states that the company will not only leave the Port of Tromsø, but also look for new opportunitites to build private ports. Halvar Pettersen, CEO of the Port of Tromsø, states that Hurtigruten already has a fair price, where the company only pays 60% of what a competitor using similar-sized boats does.
