In Sweden, the Port of Ystad reports record-high levels of traffic for H1 2017. The number of passengers amounted to 924,000, an increase by 9% compared to one year earlier. Traffic of trucks and trailers within the ferry segment increased by 9% to 121,000. Furthermore, the Port saw an increase in handled cargo by 3% to a bout 1.8 million tonnes. The only segment which reported a decrease was railway cars, which decreased by 18% to about 3,900. CEO Björn Boström comments that 2017 could become the third consecutive year of record-high levels, and that the port cooperates with the shipping companies on how to best handle such developments.
