China: Cooperation deal inked by JD.com and Xi'an National Civil Aerospace

In China, a cooperation agreement has been inked by e-commerce firm JD.com and Xi'an National Civil Aerospace Industrial Base (Xi'an National Civil Aerospace). Under the agreement, the parties will jointly build the largest comprehensive smart logistics industrial base for JD.com. JD.com is said to invest CNY 20.50bn (EUR 2.67bn USD 3.01bn) in coming five years for the plan. JD.com will set up three headquarters, three platforms and four major industries. The three headquarters are JD's global logistics headquarters, global unmanned system industry headquarters and JD cloud's Shaanxi big data operating headquarters.
JD.com will use technology, airspace and talent resources from Xi'an National Civil Aerospace, to set up a smart logistics industry centre that integrates modern logistics businesses like warehousing, distribution, settlement, big data and cloud computing. Meanwhile, the parties are expected to complete the organising of an unmanned system R&D team by end-2017, in order to realise the firm's unmanned system industry centre. The parties will gradually implement the building of an integrated testing systems that cover drones, unmanned cars and unmanned warehouses. On the other hand, JD.com will build a smart city ecology that supports by cloud technologies and driven by big data. The ecology will have four major systems, namely platform, network, data and ecology.
On the other hand, the three platforms are a fusion smart logistics platform, a flight transport platform and a big data operating platform. The four major industries will be smart manufacturing, smart logistics, cloud computing and characteristic town.
