Denmark: Mærsk Gruppen to reduce port project investments
Børsen, 14 Dec 2016, online:-
Søren Skou, CEO of Danish logistics company Mærsk Gruppen, states that the company plans to significantly reduce its investments in new port projects in favour of existing ones. He says that over the next three years, the company's business unit APM Terminals will focus more on becoming more cost-efficient as well as increase productivity. Mærsk also plans to reduce its investments in new ships for its Maersk Line fleet. Søren Skou states that if Mærsk grows by 3% annually, it will have a TEU capacity of 23 million by 2022, while the company will not need more than 22 million. The company is also set to hold 31 Triple E vessels by 2018, which will add to the surplus capacity on the global container industry.
