France: Motoblouz.com relocates and aims for EUR 50mn turnover in 2017
Logistiques Magazine, 20 Jun 2017, online:-
The growth of French motorbike products retailer Motoblouz.com (D3T Distribution) continues to accelerate, as it expects a turnover of EUR 50mn (USD 55.96mn) for 2017 (compared to EUR 21mn in 2013) and an average of 1,500 orders dispatched on a daily basis. In early 2017, the company moved into a new 23,000 m2 facility in Carvin (Pas-de-Calais), which was built by GSE under a turnkey contract. It has 15,000 m2 of storage space and there is an additional 40,000 m2 available if the site needs to be expanded over the coming years. Although the facility can reach dispatch peaks of 3,800 orders per day, it can manage up to 10,000 orders per day and the hope is that it will reach this level within three years' time. The site features 500 metres of smart modular conveyors, implemented by Boa Concept, that enables the business to absorb its growth without needing to significantly increase the number of logistics employees or immobilising the organisation. Motoblouz has also taken the opportunity of the move to update its warehouse management system and the project includes opening an on-site store with an investment of EUR 7.50mn. Co-founder and CEO Thomas Thumerelle intends to open more physical stores in the years to come, although logistics manager Christophe Leroy is more cautious about this idea, stating that this would require another reorganisation of the firm's logistics activities.
