Germany: DPD customers to receive parcel arrival information via Amazon's Alexa
CEP Research, 02 May 2017, online:-
US-based electronic commerce retailer Amazon's cloud-based Alexa intelligent personal assistant voice system, which tells customers when their parcels will arrive, was implemented on 2 May 2017 by German parcel service provider DPD. This is the first use of a company's own application for Alexa in Germany. The Parcel Navigator, which is DPD's online platform for parcel management, is linked with the DPD Skill to allow consignees to identify specific parcels. Information regarding the number of steps parcel couriers have to make prior to reaching the consignee's door will also be offered by Alexa. Additional forms of voice recognition and artificial intelligence (AI) will also be used by DPD in the future.
