Global: Amazon Prime Air helps Amazon Prime Day generate 60% more orders

US-based e-commerce company Amazon has announced that its flight delivery system Amazon Prime Air has helped the retailer generate 60% more orders for its 2017 Amazon Prime Day annual sale event compared to Prime Day 2016. Prime Day 2017 sale took place on 11 July 2017 in 13 countries. At the US event, Prime Air's fleet of 24 planes, for the first time, helped the e-commerce company deliver flat-screen TVs, Echo devices and other products. There will be 16 more planes added to the fleet by the middle of 2018. Around tens of millions of Prime members made purchases on Prime Day 2017. Amazon reportedly sold seven times more Amazon Echo devices globally on Prime Day 2017 than on Prime Day 2016. Over 3.5mn toys were purchased by customers globally at the event. At the Prime Day 2017 in the US, the most popular themes included For the Home, Techies and Home Chefs. At the Prime Day 2017 in the UK, one of the fastest deliveries of Amazon Prime Now was found to be Amazon Echo.
