The International Maritime Organisation (IMO) has been urged by a delegation consisting of ministers from the Pacific Islands who aim to have the global shipping industry reduce emissions of greenhouse gases. The delegates have handed in a proposal supported by Germany, Belgium and France to have the shipping industry achieve zero net emissions by 2035. Another two negotiations have been outlined ahead of a 2018 climate deal for the maritime industry.
