Norwegian supply, subsea, seismic and cable-laying company Eidesvik Offshore will, as first offshore company, replace a generator with a battery on board a ship. One of four generator sets on board the Viking Princess will be replaced with a battery during autumn 2017. The hybrid solution is expected to decrease diesel consumption by 20% on average, with a between NOK 6,000 (EUR 634.90 USD 698.33) and NOK 10,000 saving on fuel costs per trip.
