Poland: 2016 could be third consecutive year of fall in rail transports
Wirtualny Nowy Przemysl, 01 Dec 2016, online:-
In the first ten months of 2016, transport work by rail freight companies in Poland totalled 41.75bn tnk, which is 0.5% down on a year earlier, while mass transported also sank 2.1% year-on-year, to 182.4mn tonnes. It seems likely in view of these figures that the whole of 2016 will see key results in the sector drop for the third year in a row and financial results also follow suit. One reason for the drop in transports is that 80% of cargoes transported by rail consist of coal, sand, iron ore and stone chips, and demand for these has fallen along with the changes to the economic situation.
