Poland: Both Silesia and Poland stand to benefit from TMTM
Rynek Infrastruktury, 16 May 2017, online:-
Polish wide-gauge rail freight operator PKP LHS is to allocate PLN 1bn (EUR 237.35mn USD 259.47mn) to further improving its infrastructure, control systems and rolling stock, and thanks to this and the potential of the Euroterminal in Slawkow, both the Silesia area and Poland itself may benefit from the development of trade between China and Western Europe along TMTM, a branch of the New Silk Route via Kazakhstan. It is predicted by the organisers of TMTM that by 2020 the number of containers travelling from China to Europe will rise to around 800,000 TEU, and already in 2017 around 250 intermodal trains will run on TMTM.
