Sweden: eRoad Arlanda to test out conductive rail on public roads
NyTeknik, 27 Oct 2017, online:-
In Sweden, the electrified roads project eRoad Arlanda is set to install the first conductive rail on public roads between Arlanda and Rosersberg. The project, which is part of the pre-commerical procurement of innovation at the Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket), will see about 2 kilometres worth of conductive rail installed on the route, where an electric truck developed within the project will be tested in traffic. Hans Säll, head of business development at construction company NCC and chairperson for the eRoadArlanda project, states that this marks the culmination of several overcome challenges, where the project will display a unique type of technology. Meanwhile, Stefan Hörnfeldt, project manager at NCC, comments that that the rail will hopefully be put to the test by outside factors such as snow, ice and dirt, as it would allow the project to identify potential flaws.
