Analyst Krister Sandberg at Swedish government agency Transport Analysis (Trafikanalys) argues in an opinion piece that the possibility for relocating cargo transports from road to sea is limited in Sweden. This is a response to a previous opinion piece from maritime transport trade organisation Ostkusthamnar i samverkan in which the latter has claimed that Trafikanalys underestimates the relocation possibilities, and that its calculations are based on insufficient data. These claims are refuted by Sandberg. He further argues that different types of cargo are transported on the road and at sea, and that relocation to maritime shipping comes with a number of efficiency challenges.
