Sweden: Orkla Foods closes potato warehouse in Kävlinge
ATL - Lantbrukets affärstidning (PDF), 30 Aug 2017, online:-
Norway-based consumer goods producer Orkla Foods will close its industrial potato warehouse for brand Felix in Kävlinge, Sweden. Håkan Tuvesson, Head of Cultivation at Orkla Foods, states that farmers will take over the storage of potatoes after the closing. Carl Cederström, who cultivates about 30 hectares of potatoes for delivery to Felix, says that Orkla Foods relocates the financial risk associated with potato storage to farmers instead of assuming it itself. Additionally, there is concern that Orkla Foods plans to close all of its central warehouses in the future. The company has not made any decisions regarding closing all central warehouses and farmers without their own warehouses will still be able to deliver to Felix, according to Tuvesson.
