Sweden: Plan for municipal operations in Port of Gothenburg rejected
Göteborgs Posten, 04 Oct 2017, online:-
The proposal for the municipality of Gothenburg to take back the operation of the Port of Gothenburg was voted down by eleven against two votes on 4 October. Only the Left Party and the Sweden Democrats voted in favour of the proposal.
According to the chairman of the municipality government, Ann-Sofie Hermansson, terminal operator APM Terminals has made major investments in modernising the port and making it more efficient. She adds that municipal operations would not solve the current labour market conflict in the port as problems have been present also before APM Terminals were present in the port.
