UK: Government announces random emission tests for lorries
The Telegraph, 25 Jun 2017, Online:-
The UK Government has announced that random emission checks on lorries will be introduced from August 2017. It is hoping to catch those attempting to get around clean air rules by using fake or illegal modifications. These modifications aim to cut operating costs but often cause more pollution. Any driver found to be breaking the rules will be required to fix their emission system within ten days. If they fail to do this, they will face a ban or fine. Repeat offenders will be immediately taken off the roads.
