Energiwatch, 08 Nov 2017, online:-
Danish transport, logistics and energy company A.P. Møller-Maersk has presented its interim report for Q3 2017 which shows that the company's revenue increased by 14% to USD 8.05mn (EUR 6.73mn) in Q3 2017 compared with Q3 2016. Increase in revenue was driven by higher freight rates, but performance was challenged by the June cyber-attack which has a financial impact of between USD 250mn and USD 300mn. Loss before tax was USD 101mn in Q3 2017 compared with a profit before tax of USD 8mn in Q3 2016. Underlying profit amounted to USD 248mn, with an improvement by USD 290mn in Transport & Logistics and a decline by USD 15mn in Energy. Søren Skou, CEO of A.P. Møller - Mærsk, said that market fundamentals stayed positive, as the global container volume increased by 5%. The company predicts an underlying profit of around USD 1bn in Transport & Logistics for FY 2017.
