Russian Railways and the state railway company of Finland VR Group have held a meeting in St. Petersburg. During the meeting, the parties have discussed prospects of organization of cargo transportation on the route Finland - Russia - Iran and a high-speed passenger service Moscow - Helsinki. The parties have also noted the necessity of modernization of trains Allegro in order to enhance passenger comfort.
Over the 10 months of 2017, railway transportation between the two countries increased by 8% compared to the same period of 2016, passenger traffic - by 23.7%.
