Germany: Thewes says automated lorries will not be on roads for ten years
Süddeutsche Zeitung, 10 Jul 2017, online:-
According to Jochen Thewes, head of the German logistics firm DB Schenker, fully automated lorries will not be permitted on the roads for another ten to 15 years. However, the company is panning to test such technology on a test site on the A9 motorway in 2018. The project is to be carried out in collaboration with the German truck and bus manufacturer MAN and the Germany-based Fresenius University of Applied Sciences. The project is mainly focused on the networking of the vehicles but in some cases the automated technology can be used.
