Poland: Slight increase of speed recorded by freight trains in 2016
Wirtualny Nowy Przemysl, 12 Jul 2017, online:-
Polish Rail Transport Office (UTK) has reported that the average speed of freight trains running in Poland reached approximately 24.9 km/h in 2016, up from 23 km/h in 2013-2015 but down from slightly over 25 km/h in 2010-2012. The increase is owed to fewer modernization works being carried out on freight railway lines. At the same time, UTK has emphasised that freight trains in Poland need to raise their speed further so that they can increase their competitiveness and catch up with freight trains operating in other European countries.
