Sweden: Heavier and longer trucks would reduce emissions
Ny Teknik, 19 Dec 2016, online:-
A new survey by researchers from Lund University in Sweden shows that heavier and longer trucks have a positive influence on society and economy. The study proposes the maximum length of trucks to be 34 metres and maximum weight to be 74 tonnes. This would result in less emissions and lower costs. However, allowing heavier trucks does not alone lead to emission reductions; they also have to be longer. KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Chalmers University of Technology and Swedish transport consulting services company Trivector also participated in the research.
