The Swedish Transport Agency (Transportstyrelsen) has reviewed the regulations regarding manning and applicability for working in archipelago transport. It is proposed to establish a more qualitative practice from January 2018, which would also shorten the service time. Employees working on smaller vessels should also receive authorisation to work on larger vessels. It is proposed that shipping companies implement function-based manning the earliest in 2020.
