Austria: Quehenberger testing automated dispatch service in Graz
Die Deutsche Verkehrszeitung, 24 Jan 2017, p1:-
Austrian logistics company Quehenberger Logistics (Quehenberger) has been testing fully automated dispatching services in a pilot project in Graz, Austria. The company already carries out 95% of local dispatches this way. Christian Fürstaller, the head of Quehenberger, said that experiences with the project have been very good. The company plans to expand this system based on the Graz model to other locations during 2017. Furthermore, Quehenberger will test a field of electric trucks in its distribution transport from the third quarter of 2017, and will also use a fleet of between 20 and 30 electric delivery vehicles during the first half of 2018. However, Fürstaller stated that he will not buy the vehicles until they are ready for practical use. He added that preparations are needed to install the necessary infrastructure at the company's depots.
