France: FM Logistic robotises Mondelez co-packing lines
Stratégies Logistique, 30 Mar 2017, online:-
French logistics company FM Logistic has inaugurated its 29th platform in France, where it will install 55,000 pallets for the biscuit range of the Mondelez group. The site, located in Mormant, has been operational since 4 September 2016 and now has eight cells of 6,000 m2 each dedicated to the biscuit activity of Mondelez. The introduction of Mondelez at the site is due to a transfer from the nearby warehouse in Moissy-Cramayel that was operated by FM Logistic for around ten years. This site had become too small and Mondelez had wanted to benefit from the advantages of a multi-client site. The logistics firm has 44,000 m2 of warehouses at the multi-client site, which will reach 116,000m2 over time, and out of a total investment of around EUR 35mn (USD 37.82mn), some EUR 3mn was spent on the installation of a partially robotised co-packing unit with eight lines. These lines correspond to those already in service at the Moissy-Cramayel site, but have been modernised. The robots at the unit disburse the products and place them in batches onto a conveyor belt for automatic packaging.
