Germany: Upper house of Parliament approves ban on loud freight wagons
Verkehrs Rundschau, 10 Feb 2017, online:-
The upper house of the German Parliament, which represents the 16 federal states, has approved the draft bill passed by the German federal government whereby loud freight trains are to be banned in the country with effect from December 2020. In addition, the upper house complemented the regulation by adding that exemptions will be reduced to a minimum and that track charges for loud goods wagons which will need to travel at slow speeds will be significantly higher than those applied to modern, quieter wagons.
