Norway: Bridges to be reinforced to withstand 60 tonnes timber transports
Hegnar Online, 13 Apr 2017, online:-
The Norwegian National Transport Plan (Nasjonal transportplan, NTP) has allocated NOK 300mn (EUR 32.72mn USD 34.65mn) up until 2023 for reinforcement of bridges that cannot withstand a weight of 60 tonnes, following increased maximum weight for timber transports to 60 tonnes in 2013. Forest owner association Allskog has estimated that every fourth timber truck can be removed after bridges are reinforced, causing savings in costs and emissions for the forestry industry.
