Anders Strålman, CEO at Swedish grocery store operator Axfood, has announced that he expects total investments in the range SEK 800mn (EUR 84.59mn USD 91.26mn) to SEK 900mn in the company in 2017. This is an increase from SEK 580mn in 2016. This includes a new storage facility for perishable goods in Jönköping which will eventually be fully based on automation technology. Online sales will be expanded further. This is also expected in competitors, which is expected to increase market competition. Strålman further expects an operating profit in line with 2016 when it amounted to about SEK 1.90bn. The inflation rate for food prices is expected to be in the range 1% to 2%.
