Sweden: Government open to 74-tonnes trucks on certain roads
Svensk Åkeritidning, 16 Feb 2017, online:-
Swedish Minister for Infrastructure Anna Johansson has announced that a limited part of the Swedish road network will allow for heavy trucks with a loading capacity of 74 tonnes. She states that this will be exclusive to roads where railway or sea-based transports are not feasible, and that these types of heavy trucks will be beneficial to both climate and job opportunities. While the Minister could not give any answers as to where the line is drawn, she stated that she awaits an assessment from the Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket). She added that traffic for 74-tonnes trucks could open up at the start of 2018.
