Sweden: SCT Transports evade Port of Gothenburg for economic reasons
Transport Idag, 08 Mar 2017, online:-
Swedish container transport provider SCT Transport has announced discontinuing transports on routes between Gothenburg and Jönköping and between Gothenburg and Gävle on 1 April 2017 as well as reducing number of departures from seven to four weekly transports between Gothenburg and Örebro/Eskilstuna due to interruptions in traffic because of the labour dispute with container terminal company APM Terminals at the Port of Gothenburg. CEO Svante Altås at SCT Transport stated that recurring actions and strikes cause severe interruptions in traffic also for SCT Transport's customers and therefore financial losses. Some shipping companies have already evaded the Port of Gothenburg, some even finding permanent solutions with other ports, according to Altås. Altås stressed that SCT Transport will resume transports once the conflicts are solved and container volumes return.
