Sweden: Södertälje Science Park to open in September
NyTeknik, 26 Apr 2017, online:-
A venture by industrial city Södertälje to develop into a national node for sustainable production and production flows has resulted in Södertälje Science Park that will open officially in September 2017. Södertälje received closer to SEK 1bn (EUR 103.59mn USD 111.11mn) in grants from the government after joining forces with pharmaceutical company Astra Zeneca, automotive manufacturer Scania, KTH Royal Institute of Technology and real estate company Acturum. The venture also resulted in revival of KTH's branch threatened with discontinuation with an increase of number of students from 600 to 1,200 as well as expanded study programmes. Södertälje profits from a unique competence in industrial production that together with investments in KTH and Södertälje Sience Park could render a leading position in sustainable maintenance, production management and sustainable logistics, according to Associate Professor in Sustainable Production Jouni Korhonen at KTH.
