Baltic: Port cargo turnover down 4.2% in 1-9/2016: statistics

The cargo turnover of ports in the Baltic States totalled 108.103mn tons in the first nine months of 2016, which was 4.694mn tons (4.2%) less than in the same period of 2015, Latvia's Central Statistical Bureau reported. Latvian ports accounted for 42.5%, Lithuanian ports for 33.7%, and Estonian ports for 23.8% of the total cargo volume. Latvian ports reloaded 45.924mn tons of cargo in nine months (down 12.9%), followed by Lithuanian ports with 36.399mn tons (up 7.5%) and Estonian ports with 25.78mn tons (down 1.7%). Lithuania's Klaipeda State Seaport reloaded 29.895mn tons of cargo (up 3.4%), followed by Latvia's Freeport of Riga with 26.873mn tons (down 10.5%) and Estonia's Port of Tallinn with 15.69mn tons (down 7.8%).
