Denmark: A.P. Møller-Mærsk results for Q3 2016 lower than expected

Danish business conglomerate A.P. Møller-Mærsk reported lower than expected results for Q3 2016. Analysts had expected a profit of USD 254mn (EUR 228.86mn) for container division Maersk Line but the report stated a deficit of USD 116mn. The Mærsk Group reported a total turnover of USD 9.1bn contrary to the expected USD 9.3bn. Profit before taxes amounted to USD 731mn with an expected value of USD 844mn. Oil and gas division Mærsk Oil reported an EBITDA of USD 701mn while the expected was USD 737mn. The underlying result for Q3 2016 for the Mærsk Group was USD 438mn compared to USD 778mn for Q3 2015. Mærsk has adjusted the outlook for drilling rig operator Mærsk Drilling to correspond to the 2015 figures. Container terminal operator APM Terminals presented an operating profit of USD 199mn, more than the expected USD 195mn.
