Germany: DHL, Volkswagen partner to test We Deliver in-car delivery service
Press Release, 05 Sep 2017, online:-
German postal and logistics company DHL has launched a joint pilot project in Berlin, in partnership with German automobile company Volkswagen, to pilot an in-car delivery service called We Deliver. Under the pilot, Volkswagen is set to deploy 50 VW Polos to allow customers to use the vehicles as mobile addresses for DHL parcel deliveries and assign the car boot as the delivery location. To enter the programme, interested customers need to sign up online at deliver.we-vw.com. To be eligible, customers are required to be Berlin residents, at least 21 years of age, be regular online shoppers, and have a driver's licence for a minimum of twelve months. Those who get selected will be sent a VW Polo with which customers can test the service for a period of four weeks. Additionally, the vehicles are said to be equipped with all the equipment required for the in-car delivery service. To use the service, customers need to complete registration with DHL Parcel which is part of the We Deliver application process.
