Sweden: Call for correction of Transport Analysis conclusions
Svensk Sjöfartstidning, 03 Nov 2016, online:-
Conclusions by the Swedish Transport Analysis were faulty, according to an opinion piece by Swedish harbour association Ostkusthamnar i samverkan (OHS). The report stated that only 8% of domestic goods transports by trucks could be transferred to either rail or ship transports. OHS writes that the report by the Swedish Transport Analysis have not accounted for the value of a changed economic steering. The report only address the movement of the hauling trucks registered in Sweden. The report does not follow the actual movement of the goods. Goods for long transports could be delivered by ship while short transport deliveries could still be done by truck. The Swedish Transport Analysis failed to address such a scenario.
