Sweden: Government urged to reconsider investment in Port of Gothenburg
Dagens Industri, 03 Oct 2017, online:-
Magnus Kårestedt, CEO at Port of Gothenburg operator Göteborgs Hamn, has urged the Swedish government to reconsider the plans for a deepening of the port's waterways. The Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket) has not included such an investment in its recent national infrastructure plan, but Kårestedt argues that this decision must be overruled quickly by the government as a deepening is considered to be crucial for the Swedish industry. Minister for Infrastructure Tomas Eneroth has not announced any further plans on part of the government. Kårestedt further says that a cancelling of the project would entail a catastrophe not only for the port but also for Sweden. Sweden would also lose market shares in transports to Asian markets according to Kårestedt.
