Sweden: Maritime Forum criticises national plan from Transport Administration
Sjöfarts Tidningen, 01 Dec 2017, online:-
Swedish trade association the Maritime Forum (Maritimt Forum) has provided its consultancy response to a proposal from the Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket). The Forum argues that due to a major part of logistics and transport taking place via maritime services, the Administration should reflect this in its plan for the period 2018-2029. Proposed measures include synergy effects between maritime transports and the national road and railway grid, in addition to a larger emphasis on maritime transports as a public transport solution. Joachim Glassell, CEO at Maritime Forum, comments that the Administration plan merely proposes allocating 0.8% of the SEK 622bn (EUR 65.24bn USD 77.95bn) to maritime transports, and that a stronger tie between maritime and land-based transports is needed to create a more cohesive transport system.
