Sweden: "Other EU countries do more for stopping unsound road competition"
Dagens Nyheter, 16 Nov 2017, online:-
Swedish road transport companies argue that the Swedish government and the Swedish Transport Agency (Transportstyrelsen) are way to lenient concerning eastern European low price competition on Swedish roads. It is significantly easier for foreign drivers to evade regulations in Sweden than for example in Denmark and Germany. In Germany, foreign trucks must be equipped with transponders so that their operations can be monitored for securing that they do not carry out more runs than allowed. The European Parliament has presented demands for a new operator register which would make it much easier for the police to control vehicles and drivers.
