Swedish tug boat operator Bogser Team Öresund (BTÖ) has decided to register its boats in the Faroe Islands instead of Sweden. CEO Bill Söderberg has stated that competition in Sweden has increased, and that the financial situation for the company has become unsustainable. An application for subsidies for 2017 was submitted by the company to the Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket) in January 2017. However, the application was rejected since the deadline was on 1 November 2016. Further efforts to make the administration change its mind have been unsuccessful, and this led to the decision to reflag the boats.
