Sweden: National transport system plan viewed favourably by Skanska
Byggindustrin, 01 Sep 2017, online:-
Swedish construction company Skanska has declared a favourable opinion concerning the national infrastructure plan presented by the Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket). Gunnar Hagman, CEO at Skanska Sverige, says that the joint planning of infrastructure and housing will be instrumental in reaching Sweden's housing goal by 2025. With improved transportation systems, it is possible to construct whole new districts along the routes, he says. Hagman highlights the proposal to prioritise the expansion of the railway between Uppsala and Stockholm into a four-track railway as positive, and stresses the importance of completing the railway on Sweden's west coast, the so called West Coast Line. This line, he says, will enable a shift in freight traffic from road to railway.
