17.03.2017 Slovakia: Shortage of drivers pushes pay up, relaxes recruitment requirementsSme, 17 Mar 2017, online:-
According to the Slovak association of road hauliers Cesmad Slovakia, the current shortage of drivers in Slovakia stands at about 2,400, out of which 1,900 of lorry drivers and 500 bus drivers. While the number of new lorry drivers on the market reaches around 900 a year and 250 for bus drivers, this leaves the industry short of around 1,250 drivers. Transport companies are therefore relaxing their recruitment requirements for new drivers and are increasing their wages, with some promising a net wage of between EUR 1,500 (USD 1,612.56) and EUR 1,900 a month.
