Sweden: Climate measures proposed by government
Dagens Nyheter, 24 Feb 2017, online:-
The Swedish government will propose measures to reduce emissions and increase the share of environment-friendly cars in the spring of 2017. This includes long-term increased use of renewable fuels, a flight tax and a heavy transport tax, a shift in the taxation system for newly registered cars, increased railway funding, and speed limit reductions in cities. Legislation on sustainability criteria for biofuels is also considered. Municipalities and cities are planned to be provided more independence in regulating road traffic. SEK 700mn (EUR 72.95mn USD 77.23mn) has been allocated for increasing the share of charging stations and biogas facilities and SEK 750mn for investments in public transport and cycling infrastructure.
