Sweden: Companies affected by work stoppages at Port of Gothenburg
Göteborgs Posten, 28 Feb 2017, online:-
Johan Trouvé, CEO of the West Sweden Chamber of Commerce (Västsvenska handelskammaren), states that the ongoing conflict between Swedish port operator APM Terminals and the Swedish Dockworkers Union (Svenska Hamnarbetarförbundet) will primarily strike against the companies reliant on the Port of Gothenburg. He says that the situation is very serious, as companies with about SEK 10mn (EUR 1.05mn USD 1.11mn) in annual revenues could suddenly lose out on goods worth SEK 7mn due to the conflict. Trouvé further states that despite the conflict at the Port of Gothenburg, the economy in West Sweden is alive and well, thanks to companies such as heavy trucks manufacturer Volvo Trucks, telecommunications company Ericsson and automaker Volvo Cars.
