Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket) has announced that the Iron Ore Line (Malmbanan) between Riksgränsen and Boden in Norrbotten County will be further developed. The rail yard in Gällivare will be modernised and the rail yard in Lappberg will be extended. The goal is to raise the capacity of the railway. A double track is planned to be installed between Kiruna and Riksgränsen the earliest in 2019.
